By Lawrence A. Kalina Jr.
I have been looking at home theater projectors for over ten years. In that time I have looked at everything from Sharpvision to Barco to Epson and Sony. Each time I would visit a home theater showroom and view a projector's image in a controlled light environment, I would decide that the image quality and brightness were not quite impressive enough. I was just could not bring myself to spend thousands for something that was a bit dissapointing. But lately, I took a look at the Panasonic PT-AR100U and the older Epson 8700UB, as well as the new Epsons, 3010/5010 series. All of these projectors have high-quality bright images. Then I saw that the Panasonic PT-AR100U's price dropped from $1999.00 to around $1000.00. I also saw that Panasonic also offered a $299.00 rebate. For $699.00, I am very satisfied. I am also projecting the PT-AR100U on a Favi 150" motorized screen (also a great quality product for the money). The projected image is really bright and vibrant with great contrast. Color accuracy and flesh tones are very acceptable right out of the box. Lens shift, zoom and keystone correction line the projected image up perfectly. The black levels are not quite as good as the Epson projectors, but it was not a deal breaker. Overall, a feature film on Bluray viewed on the PT-AR100U is quite impressive. There are certainly home theater projectors which certainly achieve higher image quality, but you would be spending thousands more. If you are looking for an excellent quality projector at an affordable price, I belive you would be very satisfied with the PT-AR100U.

By Ali Alarab
Will this was my first projector after doing 1 week of research over the net
And checking many reviews out their
I purchased this projector because of those reasons:
1) Full HD 1080p
2) Supports multiple display resolutions 1080p/24 1080p/60 720p/24 720p/60 ( it's important for video games )
3) 2x zoom
4) Lens V/H shaft
After purchase I realized that:
1) Full HD 1080 is a must don't even think about anything lower at 120-140inch display size you will feel the difference especially for blue ray and games.
2) 2x zoom was very important it helps me to get huge screen size while the projector not behind or outside my home.
3) Lens V/H shaft is not needed if you're going to fix the project on ceiling like I do since it will be fixed on wall.
What I like about this projector:
1) Price in compare to other full hd projectors ( although I purchase before the cut down )
2) Zoom 2x other brands 1-1.5x zoom max which is not enough for large screens at short throw distance
3) Auto Colour calibration depend on room ambient light
4) Still acceptable screen image even with 40-70 % room lighting
I don't like or need improvement on this projector :
1) Black levels need major improvement.
2) Fan noise is high I guess if you are watching silent pictures or viewing your laptop but in movies it's not affecting.
3) Not many auto preloaded Colour calibration presets.
4) Projector size is too much and it's heavy
5) Lamp life 2000-3000HRS?! It's low I believe
Next projector I will make sure to double check:
1) Black level
2) Lamp Life
3) and it's going to be LED
Hope this helps

By prestidigination
If you are looking for a projector that looks good in a bright room, this is it. I've owned many projectors over the years and wanted one that worked well outside the home theater. This is my first Panasonic projector and I could not be happier.
Pros:
Very bright without looking washed out
Easy setup
Optical lens shift really makes a difference in mounting options
LARGE focus ring allows for very precise focus
Did I mention it's bright?
Plenty of inputs
Cons:
Menu system is a bit confusing
Large heavy unit - this is the largest projector I've owned
Blacks not as deep as other projectors but this is the tradeoff for the brightness
